Quick Start Guide
Get up and running with TankLogbook in 5 minutes:
1 Create an Account
Sign up for free at /register. You can also use Google Sign-In for quick registration.
2 Add Your First Tank
Click "+ Add Tank" on your dashboard. Enter tank details (name, volume, type) and optionally upload a photo.
3 Add Livestock & Plants
Add your fish, inverts, and plants to track bioload and compatibility.
4 Record Water Parameters
Start tracking pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. TankLogbook will chart trends and alert you to issues.
5 Set Up Reminders
Create recurring tasks for water changes, filter cleaning, and testing.

Creating a Tank
Required fields:
- Name: Give your tank a memorable name
- Volume: Enter tank capacity (liters or gallons)
- Type: Freshwater, Saltwater, Reef, or Brackish
Optional fields:
- Dimensions: Length × Width × Height
- Setup Date: When the tank was established
- Photo: Upload a current photo
- Notes: Equipment, substrate, hardscape details
Bioload Calculator
TankLogbook automatically calculates bioload based on your livestock. The bioload percentage indicates how heavily stocked your tank is:
- 0-60% - Lightly stocked (recommended)
- 61-80% - Moderately stocked
- 81-100% - Heavily stocked
- 100%+ - Overstocked (requires extra maintenance)
