The Datnioide, also known as the Indonesian Tiger Fish, is one of the most impressive predatory fish in the hobby. Its tall, laterally compressed body with black vertical stripes on a golden background resembles a tiger. It is prized for its beauty and interactive personality, making it a popular aquatic pet.

Very large aquarium with hiding places (large driftwood, caves). Clean, well‑filtered water. May be difficult to feed initially (rejects dead food). Patience during the transition to non‑live foods.

Compatibility

Compatible with large fish that do not fit in its mouth. Can be kept with arowanas, oscars, and other large cichlids. Smaller fish will be preyed upon.
