About
Elegant silver catfish with black spots and extraordinarily long barbels. One of the most popular ornamental catfish. Active and visible, especially at dusk. Pectoral fin spines can get tangled in nets.
Behavior & Temperament
Active and gregarious catfish, most active at dusk and night. Swims constantly in groups. Extremely long barbels used to explore the environment.
Feeding
Omnivore - sinking pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms, shrimp, sinking flakes. Eats leftovers and small invertebrates. Feed preferably at night.
Breeding
Not successfully bred in home aquariums. In the wild, it migrates to spawn. All specimens are collected from the wild.
Care Notes
Never use a fishing net (spines can get tangled) – use a container. Group of 3+ recommended. Daytime hiding places. Moderate current. Secure lid (they can jump).
Compatibility
Peaceful but will eat very small fish (neons, microrasboras). Ideal with larger tetras, medium cichlids, large corydoras. Avoid fish that fit in its mouth.
