About

Robust crayfish with electric blue coloration. Popular but destructive species that requires a dedicated aquarium.

Behavior & Temperament

Aggressive and territorial. Actively digs, rearranges décor and pulls up plants. May capture slow‑moving fish. Best kept alone or in pairs with plenty of hiding places.

Feeding

Omnivore - crustacean food, fish, vegetables, frozen foods, snails, aquatic plants

Breeding

Oviparous. Females carry 100–300 eggs under the abdomen for 3–4 weeks. Fry stay with the mother for 1–2 weeks. Female is aggressive when protecting brood.

Care Notes

Requires an aquarium with a secure lid (it escapes). Hiding places are mandatory for safe molting. Do not use live plants (they will be destroyed). Well‑oxygenated water.

Compatibility

Best kept alone or with fast surface-dwelling fish. Incompatible with plants, shrimp, snails, and bottom-dwelling fish.
