About

Fascinating loach with an extremely flattened body, adapted to live in strong currents. Hypnotic pattern of stripes and spots. It adheres to glass and rocks with a ventral suction disc. Requires a specialized setup with high oxygenation.

Feeding

Herbivore/Omnivore - algae, biofilm, spirulina wafers, cucumber, zucchini, occasional bloodworms. Needs surfaces with biofilm to graze.

Breeding

Successfully bred in captivity in high‑flow aquariums. Spawns in crevices between rocks. Relatively easy with proper conditions.

Care Notes

Strong current required (powerhead or high‑flow filter). Cold water (max 24°C) and highly oxygenated. Smooth rocks for biofilm. NOT compatible with warm tropical aquariums.

Compatibility

Very peaceful. Ideal with cool, fast-water fish: danios, white cloud minnows, other hillstream fish. Do NOT combine with tropical warm-water fish.
