Small hillstream loach covered with dark spots on a light background. Endemic to Borneo. Requires pristine, cold, highly oxygenated water. One of the smallest species in the genus Gastromyzon.
Behavior & Temperament
Small, peaceful hillstream loach. It clings firmly to smooth surfaces. Territorial at feeding spots but rarely aggressive.
Feeding
Herbivore - algae, biofilm, spirulina wafers, vegetables. Needs biofilm-rich surfaces. Supplemental feeding if no natural algae.
Breeding
Rarely reproduced in captivity. Requires specific riverine conditions.
Care Notes
Pristine, cold water REQUIRED. Strong current. High oxygenation. Sensitive to any pollution or ammonia. A “river tank” style setup is ideal. Frequent partial water changes.
Compatibility
Very peaceful. Ideal with other hillstream fish, danios, white cloud minnows. DO NOT keep with tropical warm‑water fish.
