Breeding
Oviparous. The female freely scatters about three eggs at a time, which are fertilized sequentially by the male. There is no parental care, and the parents may eat the eggs. Breeding in captivity is common, but a separate tank is needed for greater success. Fry hatch in up to 36 hours and swim freely after three days.
