Behavior & Temperament
Peaceful and gregarious, it swims actively in the midwater. Males display more intense colors when in a group.
Feeding
Omnivore. Accepts flakes, pellets, micro-pellets and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.
Breeding
Oviparous, egg‑scatterer. Spawns in soft, acidic water at elevated temperature. The parents do not care for the eggs.
Care Notes
Prefers well-planted tanks with shaded areas. Coloration improves with a varied diet and slightly acidic water.
Compatibility
Excellent community fish. Compatible with other tetras, corydoras, rasboras, and similarly sized peaceful fish.
