Feeding
Omnivore - accepts flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia and mosquito larvae. Prefers live or frozen foods.
Breeding
Spawns in caves. The female cares for the eggs and fry inside cavities. Polygynous: a male can mate with several females.
Care Notes
Requires caves and hiding places (driftwood, hollow logs, ceramic pots). Soft, slightly acidic water is ideal. Fine sand substrate is recommended.
Compatibility
Peaceful with surface and mid‑water fish. Avoid larger cichlids or very active fish. Good with tetras, corydoras, and otocinclus.
