Behavior & Temperament
A very active and fast swimmer that needs plenty of space to swim. Forms dynamic schools in the upper portion of the aquarium. Can jump, requiring a tightly sealed lid.
Feeding
Omnivore. Accepts flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia, mosquito larvae and small insects. Voracious appetite, accepts practically any food.
Breeding
Oviparous. Easy to breed. Scatters eggs among plants and substrate. Spawns in groups. Separate adults after spawning.
Care Notes
Securely sealed lid because it’s a jumper. Long tank with plenty of swimming space. Moderate to strong current. Tolerates lower temperatures.
