Breeding
Maternal mouthbrooder. Female carries 60-120 eggs for 21-28 days. Adult males develop a metallic blue head contrasting with a golden body.
Care Notes
Very large aquarium with open areas and a sand substrate. Powerful filtration due to its size and carnivorous diet. Do not keep with small fish.
Compatibility
Only with similarly large‑sized cichlids. It devours any fish that fits in its mouth. Compatible with other Nimbochromis and large haplochromines.
