About
Mbuna with unique reversed sexual dimorphism: females are blue with dark vertical bars while males are golden-yellow. Very aggressive.
Behavior & Temperament
Very aggressive, one of the most territorial mbunas. Extremely dominant males may relentlessly chase other fish. Keep in a spacious tank with plenty of hiding places.
Feeding
Herbivore. Feed with spirulina, veggie flakes and aufwuchs. Avoid excess animal protein that causes Malawi Bloat.
Breeding
Maternal mouthbrooder. Female carries 20-40 eggs for 21-28 days. Reverse sexual dimorphism: females blue, males golden‑yellow.
Care Notes
Spacious tank with plenty of rocks and hiding spots. Only one male per tank. Monitor aggression daily. Strict herbivorous diet.
Compatibility
Only with equally robust and aggressive mbunas. Do NOT keep with peacocks or peaceful haps. Controlled overstocking can help.
