About
Considered the easiest and most peaceful Apistogramma in the genus. Males have an umbrella‑shaped dorsal fin and a blue‑yellow coloration. It tolerates lower temperatures than other Apistos.
Behavior & Temperament
The most peaceful of the Apistogramma. Shy and calm, rarely territorial even during breeding. Ideal for community aquariums.
Feeding
Omnivore - accepts flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia and frozen foods. Less demanding than other Apistos.
Breeding
Spawns in caves. Female tends the eggs. Relatively easy to breed compared to other Apistogramma.
Care Notes
Less demanding in parameters than other dwarf cichlids. Tolerates neutral water and temperatures of 20°C. Still prefers hiding places and dense vegetation.
Compatibility
Very peaceful. Excellent with tetras, rasboras, corydoras, and other calm fish. The best Apisto for community tanks.
