About
The Green Chromis is one of the most popular marine fish for reef aquariums. Its iridescent blue-green body creates an impressive visual effect when kept in schools above branching corals. It is one of the few truly peaceful damsels, differing from the aggressive temperament common in the family.
Behavior & Temperament
One of the few truly peaceful damselfish. Forms schools in the aquarium, swimming in groups above branching corals. A hierarchy and mild aggression may occur within the group.
Feeding
Omnivore with planktivorous tendency. Accepts marine flakes, micro pellets, mysis, brine shrimp, frozen cyclops and phytoplankton.
Breeding
Oviparous. Male prepares a nest in clean substrate, courts and spawns. Male guards and aerates the eggs. Reproduction possible in an aquarium.
Care Notes
Reef aquarium with branching corals (Acropora, Pocillopora) as refuge. Keep in groups of 6+ for natural behavior. Frequent feeding with small foods. Moderate current.
Compatibility
Excellent for community reef tanks. Compatible with virtually all peaceful reef fish. One of the best schooling options for marine aquariums.
