About

One of the largest labyrinth fish in the world. Very intelligent, recognizes its owner and actively interacts. Often sold as a 5–10 cm juvenile without buyers realizing its adult size. A pet fish with personality.

Bubble‑nest builder and plant material. Male builds a large nest at the surface. Produces a massive spawn (thousands of eggs). Breeding in captivity requires huge tanks.

Care Notes

A very large aquarium or tank is REQUIRED. Extremely powerful filtration. A vegetable‑rich diet. A heavily reinforced lid (they are strong). Heater protected (they may break it).

Compatibility

Peaceful for its enormous size. Can coexist with other large fish. Small fish may be accidentally swallowed. Ideal as a solitary fish or in monster tanks.
